KFMA 25th International Symposium on Survival Facility Management Report

Thursday, November 7, 2019 FM Summit Session Report

The Korean Facility Management Association (KFMA) organized the 25th International Symposium on Survival Facility Management on Thursday November 7, Friday November 8 at Seoul University. This event, which happens once a year, aims at sharing and understanding the different experiences, perspectives, and new technologies related to the FM business. Hundreds of people participated in the conferences coming from all around the World including China, Singapore, Japan, France and Russia among other.

On Thursday, November 7, several sessions were held discussing about Strategic FM, Safety and Environment, FM Summit, Asset/Property Market, FM platform of User-Centered, the Technique of Building performance improvement and FM Technology.

Regarding the FM Summit organized and coordinated by Gold Bricks FMS, key speakers talked about their experiences and visions related to FM and IFM in Korea, Japan, UK and more generally globally.

Gold Bricks FMS CEO’s Dong-Ju Park presented the strategy to expand IFM (Integrated Facility Management) into the Korean Market. He described the global trend of FM and IFM market’ size and maturity by world region with a special focus on Korea.

Brent Smith, Head of Korea for Engie, walked us through Engie’s dedication to address the energy challenges of the decades ahead and explained that “the mission of Engie is to become world leader in the zero-carbon transition ‘as a service.’” Smith talked more extensively about the case study of facility management services in governmental institutions in the UK.

Sera Kim, an independent IFM Specialist, talked about the IFM model in Japan. She emphasized the challenges of integrating the Japanese market due to the specific Japanese model of facility management.

Jack Rrapo, Gold Bricks FMS’ Executive Vice President and Head of Global Account, talked about IFM and FM digitization. He presented about the importance of innovating and optimizing IFM and FM services using digitalization.

Finally, GB FMS CEO’s Dong-Ju Park concluded this session discussing about how to change from FM business into IFM business. The audience was very receptive and interested in the integrated aspect of IFM and asked numerous questions related to IFM in Korea.
