Space Planning in Time of Covid19

The number of Covid19 cases unfortunately keeps increasing around the world. Given the long-lasting presence of the virus, it is evident that we need to adapt to new forms of working together. To support our clients in this difficult time, our appointed Special Covid19 Response Team, has developed a Stress-Free Return to the Workplace Program.

This program consists of ensuring a safe transition to the workplace with a comprehensive pre-return inspection to promote the health and wellness of our clients. Therefore, we ensure Workplace Safety with engineering inspection, EHS audit, and deep cleaning as well as People Safety with disinfection and space planning.

Today, we would like to focus on the importance of space planning. Post COVID-19, offices will never be the same. Rethinking the workplace space to reduce transmission of contagious diseases among colleagues and visitors at work through social distancing and touch points reduction is a priority.

Last Friday, our Special Covid19 Response Team implemented GB FMS space planning program in one of our clients’ office, a leading multinational computer software company.

GB FMS Space Planning Manager elaborated a special plan to respond to this client office priorities that includes seating, health procedures, circulation spaces, and shared spaces.

To reduce the capacity of shared space, the Special Team blocked 80 workstations, 20 meetings rooms, and canteen with signs, banners, and specific seat assignments.

To promote and enhance the respect of basic hygiene protocol such as wearing a mask, disinfecting, and washing hands regularly, Health Procedures signs were added in the office strategic areas. That signage aims at protecting workers and visitors.
